The Experience

Japanese hotpot originated with the word “shabu-shabu” an onomatopoeia to describe the sounds of meat being swirled in a simmering broth. With roots dating back over 1,000 years, hot pot is a delicious and healthy way to dine.

At shabumaru, guests are greeted with a rousing “Irasshaimase” – a traditional Japanese welcome. From there, staff assist guests to make informed decisions and choices to guide them to the best possible experience. Choosing from a range of broths: Kimchi, Miso, Tomato, Chicken, or Vegetarian; guests are in control of what they want. The traditional shabu shabu-style experience continues with a selection of razor-thin meat options like certified Miyazaki Wagyu beef, Kurobuta pork belly, Lamb shoulder, and sushi-grade salmon, tuna, and yellowtail – all complemented by an assortment of seasonal freshly grown fresh vegetables. These ingredients are then to be placed by the guest in whatever combination they prefer into their pot of broth to cook.  Remove when fully cooked and eat!

Signature condiments include a ponzu citrus-based soy sauce and creamy sesame sauce, served with mix-ins such as garlic paste, scallions, daikon puree, and chili oil, allowing guests to design taste sensations to suit their own palette.

In much the same way that our menu celebrates the purity of hotpot cuisine, its beverage program takes a similar approach to simplicity and artisanal craftsmanship. Beer lovers will appreciate the choice of some of Japan’s top brews. Wine drinkers will be able to sip from a thoughtfully curated list of red, white or sparkling wines in bottles and by-the-glass pours. Our wine and beer selection is rounded out by a sake selection culled from Japan.

Whether it is for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner, hotpot is essentially suited to the needs of its guests. This even extends to those with dietary concerns or restrictions! Almost everything offered at shabumaru is prepared in-house, to give the cleanest, tastiest, most natural flavors.
